  Many
reasons - which are yours?
The web is a completely new kind of channel for reaching your
customers. Why might you want to use this channel for your business?
- You'd like to sell directly from the web.
- You want to reach potential customers who will visit your
store or contact you directly.
- You want a "dynamic brochure" that can be bigger,
more colorful, more up-to-date, and perhaps cheaper, than the printed kind.
- You want customers to be able to check your stock any time,
day or night.
- You produce work with a visual impact: sculpture, interior
designs, photographs, paintings - and you want to show potential customers what you can
do. Or, as a musician, you have something you'd like them to hear.
- You have time-critical messages for your customers: sales,
meetings, presentations, and you need a dynamic way to get them posted.
Not to be ignored is the fact that, more and more, people are
expecting savvy businesses to be on line. Everywhere you look advertisements include a web
address. Customers ask: "Where's your website?" Web presence alone could be a
consideration.
It's critical, though, that whatever you are trying to
accomplish, your website be integrated into your sales and marketing strategy. That
strategy must take into account the new and often-ignored characteristics of the World
Wide Web, the technology behind it, and the evolving attitudes of the public as they
clamber to connect into this culture-changing phenomenon.
Sooner or later, for whatever reasons, most businesses will
be getting onto the Web. It's not a question of "if", but "when." Is now the time?
